King’s Lynn Guest house EV charger installation

King’s Lynn Guest house installs EV charger for staff and guest.

A guest house reached out to me for help understanding their EV charging options for staff and guests

Despite their being at least 8 rapid chargers within a mile of their location, the pending arrival of a new EV and occasional guests asking if they have EV charging on site, meant there was now a need for a permanent solution in one form or other.

Guest EV charging has never been an issue due to the rapid chargers nearby and the fact they have a minimum 3-night stay policy, so guests aren’t passing through quickly as they are in typical guest houses and hotels.

As there was a 3-phase supply at the premises we discussed a standalone single-phase unit for staff charging in a dedicated bay, and 3-phase options for guest use in the other bays.

Very early into our discussions they’d explained they did not want any charger solution to be publicly advertised or used to attract guests to stay with them, certainly not in the beginning at least (hence out of respect, I have not mentioned the names of the proprietors or the business).

The dedicated space was relatively straight forward, though the guest parking would involve groundworks which they were happy to arrange with their trusted builder should they go ahead – so I costed up the solutions discussed and advised on the implications.

They decided to go for a standalone single-phase unit for staff, that guests could use as and when required.

Due to the age of the building and how well kept it is they stressed how they didn’t want cable on show as far as practically possible, we discussed how we could best hide it behind the Wisteria (which at the time of survey was rather bushy) so very little cable would be seen.

The proprietors said they really liked the aesthetics of the Simpson and Partners charger – the tasteful colour choices allowing them to choose something sympathetic to the building and surroundings.

Having asked how they intended to bill guests, it became obvious that a guest friendly back-end payment software would be a good fit.

For this I suggested TAP Electric – no ongoing costs for the owners and very easy to use and amend – even more so for them as they were both well-established IT professionals.

Once they confirmed the charger design and were happy with TAP Electric, we agreed an installation date and made it happen.

As you’ll see, the publicly accessible part of the building (the front face) we have hidden the cable behind the Wisteria, once this blooms again it will be covered ( it had been trimmed before our arrival to make for an easier installation).

The charger colours blend with the building and equally important they have an easy to use and flexible billing system for guests and staff.

And naturally we got a 5-star review.

If you’re looking for an EV charger installation that is kind to your building, doesn’t look like a hose pipe reel and you aren’t focused solely on price – then maybe we’ll be a good fit to work together.  Book a survey with the Norwich Electricians.

It has been a pleasure dealing with Luke, he is professional, courteous and clearly knows what he is talking about. The work was done to a high standard and on schedule. And all the quotation paperwork and invoices was done very efficiently and with an excellent level of detail. Highly recommend.
