Norwich Electricians were asked to install 2 EV chargers within the grounds of North Norfolk Estate.
These were to be installed at 2 private lodges which are available to hire for short getaways.
We were advised the chargers had to blend in and not be an eye-sore – plastic looking chargers, flashing screens and messy cables were absolute no-no.
The 2 lodges were both far from the pub and one another. Due to their remote location there was very limited cellular coverage meaning we needed to look at chargers with Wi-Fi connectivity for any remote support or over the air updates.
There were also restrictions on power availability at one lodge as there was an existing supply going to an out-building where the charger was to be fitted with no possibility of installing another supply or upgrading the existing.
We blended in a compact socketed charger and hid the cabling by entering the charger from the rear, giving the EV charger a floating appearance – though due to its small and slender size it is sympathetic to the surroundings and doesn’t stand out or look tacky.
Due to a limited supply we reduced the maximum charging current down to prevent potential overloading at peak times and associated nuisance tripping. Whilst this means slower charge times, it’s worth noting the minimum stay is 3 nights and an overnight charge will be enough to charge almost all EVs from empty to 80%.
Here we installed the same charger in much the same manner by brining the cable in from the rear exactly where the EV charger was to be mounted.
Though at this location the electrical mains intake was separate from the main house and situated behind the wall which this EV charger is mounted.
This meant no there was power restriction for the charger.
As with Suffield lodge, the charger isn’t obtrusive and blends in well with its surroundings.
Naturally the client was very happy with our recommendation of product for their unique requirements and the high standard of our installation with all documents and notifications being completed within 24 hours of our works.
