This installation was for a long-term client of Norwich Electricians who wanted to build something he, his family and guests could enjoy all year round, come rain or shine.
We were not involved in the build of the structure – this was carried out by a trusted builder, but we were instructed to perform the electrical installation.
To the rear of cookhouse there was an existing supply, though it was not sufficient and the consumer unit had seen better (and drier) days, so these were both upgraded.
Both inside and outside the structure, each source with its own means of switching. This allowed the lighting to be adjusted according to the task, desired mood and external sources of light.
We installed LED downlights into planks running across the ceiling directly above the worktops where the food preparation and cooking occur – these were controlled via a rotary dimmer, allowing for small adjustments.
Along the inner perimeter we fitted LED strip with a difference. Unlike traditional LED strip which shines through bright dots, we fitted a high uniformity IP rated product which gives a continuous light along its entire length.
Along the decorative fencing we installed up down lights to provide a small amount of scene lighting whilst detailing the paneling.
General power
We installed decorative sockets and switches above the worktops – preparing them for custom fitted granite worktops which were installed between our 1st and 2nd fix.
They’re not only stainless but also screwless so they look slicker and are easier to clean and maintain hygiene.
We fitted a power supply for a water heater at low level – suitable for handwashing and kitchen use.
